Thread Veins

A treatment that reduces and removes thread veins from the legs using the renowned Fotona laser. 

Thread veins occur when the small capillaries in your skin become dilated and can give the appearance of red spots, or they can spread out like thread veins or spider veins. The Fotona laser works by the destruction of some of the red blood cells within the dilated vessels which then allows the vessel to immediately collapse/shrink giving an instant cosmetic result. The broken-down red blood cells are often immediately cleared away by the body but in some cases may go a greyish colour initially, like a small bruise, the body will then naturally clear this away over the course of a few days. 

When the treatment takes place, you will feel a slight warmth and an occasional flicking sensation as your energy gets absorbed by the red blood cells. Your therapist will use some ice and a cooler before, during and after treatment to alleviate any slight discomfort. 

Whether you choose to treat the upper leg, lower leg or full leg, veins can either be significantly improved or removed entirely using this treatment. Smaller lesions will often disappear immediately. Some will leave a brown/grey colour over the vein for a few days which will fade and disappear in time. 

 

 

 

Cautions and care 

The area will appear red immediately after treatment, and you may experience some mild inflammation. It can take up to two weeks for the skin to settle completely. You can use mineral make-up to conceal the area while it heals. 

Avoid exercise, swimming, hot baths, saunas, extreme temperatures and products that may cause irritation such as bubble baths, harsh skincare and non-mineral make-up for two weeks post treatment.
