In Traditional Chinese Medicine, fertility is closely linked to the strength of Kidney Qi — considered the foundation of reproductive vitality — as well as the smooth flow of Liver Qi and the nourishing capacity of the Spleen. As head of The HVN’s TCM team, Susan Gu addresses each of these systems in turn, tailoring treatment to your constitution, cycle phase, and specific diagnosis.
Each session includes a 15-minute consultation followed by 30 minutes of needling.
What your session may include:
Acupuncture Needling: Precisely placed at acupoints including Zusanli (ST36), Sanyinjiao (SP6), and Guanyuan (CV4) to regulate reproductive hormones, improve uterine blood flow, and support ovarian function.
Moxibustion: Gentle warming therapy applied to key points to tonify Kidney Yang, warm the uterus, and support implantation — particularly beneficial for those with cold or deficient constitutions.
Cycle-Synced Treatment: For natural conception, sessions are timed to the phases of your menstrual cycle to support follicular development, ovulation, and the luteal phase.
IVF Protocol Support: For those undergoing assisted reproduction, treatment is coordinated with your clinic’s timeline, with sessions timed around stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer.
Emotional & Nervous System Support: Fertility journeys can be emotionally demanding. Acupuncture’s regulatory effect on the nervous system helps reduce stress, improve sleep, and support emotional resilience throughout.
Safety & Suitability
Acupuncture for fertility is safe for most individuals and can be integrated alongside conventional reproductive medicine. Susan Gu works collaboratively and will liaise with your medical team where appropriate. A thorough consultation is conducted prior to every treatment to ensure the programme is precisely tailored to your needs.
Expected Results
Most clients begin a course of treatment three to six months prior to trying to conceive naturally, or ahead of a planned IVF cycle. Results are cumulative, regular sessions build on one another to create lasting improvements in hormonal balance, cycle regularity, and overall reproductive health.
